Basketball Game Preview: Canton Preparatory Chargers vs. Universal Learning Academy

Canton Preparatory is 4-0 against Universal Learning Academy since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Canton Preparatory Chargers will host Universal Learning Academy at 7:00 p.m. Canton Preparatory knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Universal Learning Academy likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Canton Preparatory made off with a 55-54 victory over Trillium Academy. The win was all the more spectacular given the Chargers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Trillium Academy are ranked 175th).

Meanwhile, Universal Learning Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a hard 55-41 fall against Chavez Academy. One positive for Universal Learning Academy, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Canton Preparatory is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Universal Learning Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Canton Preparatory came out on top in a nail-biter against Universal Learning Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will Canton Preparatory repeat their success, or does Universal Learning Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
