Baseball Game Preview: Springstead Eagles vs. Wesley Chapel Wildcats

The Springstead Eagles will take on the Wesley Chapel Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Springstead is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against River Ridge by a score of 8-5. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Royal Knights on their field since March 19, 2019.

The team relied heavily on Nathan Marsh, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Sabino, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Springstead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Ridge only posted a batting average of .233.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Wesley Chapel took on Lecanto on Tuesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 13-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Dylan Pabon was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Wesley Chapel's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't). Nolan Hartley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Springstead's win bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Wesley Chapel, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Springstead suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Wesley Chapel when the teams last played back in March. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
