Softball Recap: Orono Extends Winning Streak to Four

Orono waltzed into their match on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Sumner Tigers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-1 back in April.

Orono pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sumner, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Orono is set to square off against their familiar foe Houlton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Sumner will take on rival Narraguagus at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
