Volleyball Recap: Mountain Brook Comes Up Short

After flying high against Huffman last Tuesday, Mountain Brook came back down to earth. The Spartans took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Buckhorn Bucks on Thursday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bucks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.

Buckhorn found their leader in sophomore Chloe Brewington, who had 25 digs and five assists. Those 25 digs set a new season-high mark for Brewington.

Mountain Brook's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 20-19. As for Buckhorn, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 39-16 record this season.

Mountain Brook does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buckhorn, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 loss against Oxford on the 23rd.
