Basketball Game Preview: La Salle Academy Rams vs. Classical Purple

The La Salle Academy Rams will square off against the Classical Purple at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Classical took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on La Salle Academy, who comes in off a win.

La Salle Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Mt. Pleasant, who was ranked 13th at the time (La Salle Academy was ranked first). La Salle Academy enjoyed a cozy 52-36 win over Mt. Pleasant on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Rams who have now won three games in a row.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Classical's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Bishop Hendricken 53-49. While the Purple didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Hawks 18-14 in the first quarter.

La Salle Academy will have to contain Jordan Duke as he made an impact in Classical's last game. He posted 22 points. Eliezer Delbrey was another key player, putting up nine points.

Classical's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for La Salle Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

La Salle Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Classical when the teams last played back in December of 2024, sneaking past 51-49.
