Basketball Recap: Northridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Naia Moore and Ava Travis

Northridge lost against Johnstown-Monroe back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The match between the Northridge Vikings and the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies didn't end well, with the Northridge Vikings falling 52-34. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Johnnies are ranked 93rd).

Northridge's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ava Travis, who posted 15 points and four steals, and Naia Moore, who had seven points. Travis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played. Illa Beaver also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Even though they lost, Northridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Northridge's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Johnstown-Monroe, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 18-3.

Looking ahead, Northridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Tree of Life Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Johnstown-Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
