Softball Recap: Morgan Comes Up Short

Morgan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 22-17 to the Freedom Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 last Saturday.

KYRA SMITH and BELLA SMITH did some serious damage despite the final result: KYRA went 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while BELLA got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. ASHLEY SIMON was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs.

Morgan's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Freedom, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-7 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Morgan will face off against Lennard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Longhorns' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Freedom, they will square off against Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.64 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of.
