Preview: Appling County Pirates vs. Vidalia Indians

Appling County is 0-4 against Vidalia since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Appling County Pirates will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vidalia Indians at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Last Tuesday, Appling County came up short against Pierce County and fell 48-36. Appling County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shamiah Barnum, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ke?niyah White, who scored 11 points.

Meanwhile, Vidalia pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Tattnall County by a score of 60-58. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (55), Vidalia still had to take the loss.

Vidalia's defeat came about despite a quality game from Hannah Nichols, who scored 17 points along with four steals. Nichols is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cristal Franklin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Vidalia were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Appling County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Vidalia, they now have a losing record at 11-12.

Appling County lost to Vidalia at home by a decisive 59-40 margin in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Vidalia's Tymber Harris, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Now that Appling County knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
