Basketball Recap: Tri-West Hendricks Takes a Loss

Tri-West Hendricks lost against Avon back in January of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Tri-West Hendricks Bruins took a blow against the Avon Orioles, falling 73-40. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Orioles are ranked tenth).

Tri-West Hendricks got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Wes Ward and Amare Blakely, who each put up seven points. Kellen Dakin took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

Avon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Keriawn Berry out in front who went 8 of 12 on his way to 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Berry has been hot, having posted 16 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jedidiah Minnett, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Tri-West Hendricks and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Avon, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.

Tri-West Hendricks will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lebanon at 7:45 p.m. As for Avon, they will head out to take on Plainfield at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Plainfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season.
