Softball Recap: Jennings Triumphs

Jennings hadn't done well against St. Edmund recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Fighting Blue Jays 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since March 12th.

Jenna Morvant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Emma Kate Mack was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Venable, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Jennings and bumps their season record up to 12-7. As for St. Edmund, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jennings will welcome Notre Dame at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pioneers will roll in looking for their 27th straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Edmund, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Beauregard at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.45 runs per game on average), something the Fighting Blue Jays will no doubt try to take advantage of.
