Basketball Recap: Miami-Yoder Comes Up Short

Miami-Yoder had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were dealt a 65-35 defeat at the hands of the Pikes Peak Christian Eagles. The Buffaloes were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in January.

Miami-Yoder lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jesus Cruz, who shot 62% from the field en route to 17 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Hume, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds.

Matthew Crocfer went supernova For Pikes Peak Christian., going 12-for-26 on his way to 31 points and seven steals. Those seven steals gave Crocfer a new career-high. Reggie Harmon was another key player, putting up six points along with 14 boards and three steals.

Miami-Yoder didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-37 win against Deer Trail on the 6th. As for Pikes Peak Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 67-33 victory against Bethune on the 6th.
