Volleyball Recap: Shepard Astros vs. Stagg Chargers

Shepard lost against Stagg back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Astros took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers.

Shepard was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-19.

Oliver Bilik paced Shepard's offense, picking up seven kills. Bilik got some help from Conor Harkala and his 17 assists. Finally, Kamil Antolak kept Shepard's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Leading Stagg to victory were Charlie Zeiler and Dean Hammad. Zeiler had 18 digs, while Hammad had five digs. What's more, Hammad posted two kills, the most he's had over his last four matchups.

Shepard dropped their record down to 17-14 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Stagg, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 19-11.

As for Stagg, they will venture away from home to face off against Andrew at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
