Football Game Preview: Hershey Trojans vs. Mechanicsburg Wildcats

Hershey and Mechanicsburg are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Hershey sitting on three straight wins and Mechanicsburg on four.

On Friday, Hershey took their matchup with ease, bagging a 42-14 victory over Northern York. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

Cameron Sweeney had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 233 yards and two TDs on only 18 passes, while also punching in a pair of touchdowns on the ground. Those 233 passing yards gave him a new career-high.

Hershey didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sweeney and Bryan Maduena. Sweeney got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg strolled past Waynesboro with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 32-17. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Indians are ranked 310th).

Mechanicsburg's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Hershey, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Hershey suffered a grim 42-21 defeat to Mechanicsburg when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Trojans, Eli Reider (who threw for 234 yards and four TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
