Basketball Recap: Green Run Comes Up Short

Green Run was the 48-30 winner over Grassfield when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Green Run Stallions took a 52-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grassfield Grizzlies on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Stallions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 40th).

Grassfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Khadijah Rashid led the charge by going 7 for 10 on her way to 15 points. Lauren Priester was another key player, going 5 for 12 on her way to 11 points and three steals.

Green Run now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Grassfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Green Run didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 95-28 loss against Princess Anne on the 10th. As for Grassfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 80-16 victory against Franklin on the 10th.
