Basketball Game Preview: Emerson Mavericks vs. West Mesquite Wranglers

The Emerson Mavericks will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the West Mesquite Wranglers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Emerson is leaving town to face West Mesquite after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Mavericks took an 81-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of Plano on Friday.

Emerson might have lost, but man, Elijah York was a machine: he shot 75% from beyond the arc en route to 28 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Mason Carlino, who posted 20 points.

Meanwhile, West Mesquite strolled past Rockwall-Heath with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-31.

Emerson couldn't quite get it done against West Mesquite when the teams last played back in December of 2024 as they fell 72-59. Can the Mavericks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
