Basketball Game Preview: Smithson Valley Rangers vs. Boerne-Champion Chargers

The Smithson Valley Rangers are taking a road trip to take on the Boerne-Champion Chargers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Smithson Valley is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Smithson Valley lost to Veterans Memorial on the road by a 47-32 margin.

Smithson Valley might have lost, but man, Cyanna Cavazos was a machine: she posted 23 points. That's the most points Cavazos has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aspen Murphy, who earned five points.

Meanwhile, Boerne-Champion strolled past Veterans Memorial with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 60-44. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while the Patriots are ranked 929th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Smithson Valley's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Boerne-Champion, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 15-11.

Smithson Valley couldn't quite finish off Boerne-Champion when the teams last played back in November of 2024 and fell 49-46. Can Smithson Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
