Baseball Recap: Palmer Triumphs

Palmer had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 5-15-1 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Scurry-Rosser Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cooper Stockton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Palmer's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 4-0-1 (and 1-15 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eric Cisneros, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Scurry-Rosser, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last seven times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Scurry-Rosser's side, Lincoln Wagner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Cole Hartzel, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Palmer wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-3 win against Grandview on the 22nd. Scurry-Rosser does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
