Baseball Recap: Hope Triumphs

Hope's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Horatio Lions a 5-0 shutout.

Not much got past Austin Courtney, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Horatio off the board.

At the plate, Jaiden Brown was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Drake Mathis also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Hope's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-20. As for Horatio, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's still a better percentage than their 4-15 record this season.

Hope will square off against Magnolia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Horatio, they will challenge Murfreesboro at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
