Football Recap: Carmel Takes a Loss

Carmel came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Brewster Bears, falling 36-14. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rams came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Bears are ranked 137th).

Chase Prohaszka was his usual excellent self, rushing for 194 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 12.1 yards per carry, and also throwing for 95 yards and two touchdowns for Brewster. Prohaszka really tore up the turf during one magnificent 79-yard run. Another back making a difference was Tre Ficarra, who rushed for 108 yards and one score on only ten carries.

Carmel now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Brewster, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Carmel will venture away from home to challenge Clarkstown North at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brewster, they will head out to take on Fox Lane at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
