Football Game Preview: Alcorn Central Bears vs. Booneville Blue Devils

Alcorn Central is 0-10 against Booneville since October of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Bears will welcome the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Alcorn Central has given up an average of 30.2 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Alcorn Central's offense might be in the hot seat on Thursday considering what happened against Mooreville on Friday. They were dealt a 48-0 defeat at the hands of the Troopers. Considering the last time the Bears couldn't score was back in September, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, Booneville earned a 35-28 win over Mantachie on Friday. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Alcorn Central better focus on containing Tony Ogden and Kydon Smith as the pair were huge in Booneville's win. Ogden rushed for 13 yards and three TDs, while Smith picked up 142 receiving yards. Those 142 receiving yards gave Smith a new career-high. Jack Sandlin also helped out by tossing the rock for 273 yards.

Alcorn Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Booneville, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Alcorn Central was taken down by Booneville 39-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bears were down 25-0.
