Basketball Recap: St. John's Takes a Loss

St. John lost against Burke back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The St. John's Islanders had to suffer through a 57-30 loss at the hands of the Burke Bulldogs. The Islanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

St. John's lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Daeshia Buford, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 10 points and four steals. Buford has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 28 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Thornley, who posted eight points and five assists.

St. John's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Burke, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

St. John's didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 45-34 victory against Baptist Hill on the 10th. As for Burke, they will take on Philip Simmons at 6:30 p.m. on January 14th.
