Softball Game Preview: Patton Panthers vs. Polk County Wolverines

The Patton Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Polk County Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Patton has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 20.

Patton managed to slip by Draughn the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Panthers came up short against the Wildcats on Monday, falling 12-6.

Madison Abele stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ellie Shuping, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Polk County unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brevard.

Polk County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Bradley, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Polk County's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Patton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Patton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Polk County struggles in that department as they've averaged .378. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
