Basketball Recap: Lamar Lee Key Part of a Team Effort in Chargers Win

Liberty hadn't done well against Celebration recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Liberty Chargers strolled past the Celebration Storm with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Storm are ranked 428th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Liberty's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lamar Lee, who went 6 for 10 en route to 15 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Lee is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 37 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Julian Soria, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Liberty smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Celebration lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nicholas Edouard, who posted 11 points and five boards. Those 11 points gave Edouard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Triston McNeal, who scored six points and five rebounds.

Liberty's record now sits at 11-3. As for Celebration, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.

Liberty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-47 defeat against Poinciana on the 16th. Celebration has also already played their next game, a 50-39 loss against Tohopekaliga on the 16th.
