Baseball Game Preview: North Eugene Highlanders vs. Canby Cougars

The North Eugene Highlanders will head out to take on the Canby Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

North Eugene is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Eagle Point just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 3-2.

Aaron Spratt was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, North Eugene saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Hibler, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Canby faced Wilsonville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Canby's loss dropped their record down to 22-5. As for North Eugene, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-12.
