Softball Recap: Philadelphia Military Academy Knights vs. Overbrook Panthers
Philadelphia Military Academy had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell victim to a rough 15-3 loss at the hands of the Overbrook Panthers on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Philadelphia Military Academy of the 17-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2019.
For Overbrook's part, Nilah Thompson was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Thompson has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Thompson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Overbrook got a massive performance out of Rossanna Whitter, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Alana McIntosh-Inniss was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
The victory (which was Overbrook's fifth in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 3-0.
Philadelphia Military Academy will head out on the road to challenge Roxborough at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Overbrook, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-12 loss vs. South Philadelphia on the 19th.
