Volleyball Recap: Kenosha Christian Life Takes a Loss

After flying high against St. Francis on Thursday, Kenosha Christian Life came back down to earth. The Eagles fell just short of the River Valley Blackhawks by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.

Despite the defeat, Kenosha Christian Life saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sophia Pereira had 21 digs and one assist. Pereira has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Leading River Valley to victory were Maddie C and Kyllie Smith. C had 19 assists and three aces, while Smith had six digs and three aces. Ella Hillebrand also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Kenosha Christian Life has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for River Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8.

Coincidentally, Kenosha Christian Life and River Valley will both be playing Waukesha North the next time they take the court. The Eagles will head out to face the Northstars at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Blackhawks will play them later in the day, at 11:30 a.m.
