Basketball Game Recap: Laughlin Cougars vs. Lake Mead Christian Academy Eagles

Lake Mead Christian Academy came into Saturday's game looking for another win against Laughlin, but Valeria Quintero wouldn't allow it. The Laughlin Cougars snuck past the Lake Mead Christian Academy Eagles with a 34-30 win on Saturday thanks in part to Quintero, who posted 20 points and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Laughlin's points.

Lucy Braaksma was another key player, putting up two points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave her a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Lake Mead Christian Academy lost, don't look at Tenaya Brown. Despite the final result, she had 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Davina Fernandez-Guillen, who put up six points.

Laughlin's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Lake Mead Christian Academy, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laughlin will square off against Lincoln County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Mead Christian Academy, they will welcome Adelson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
