Softball Game Preview: Fort Edward Flying Forts vs. Hartford Central Tanagers

The Fort Edward Flying Forts will take on the Hartford Central Tanagers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Fort Edward is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.

If Fort Edward beats Hartford Central with 12 runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Flying Forts didn't even let Hadley Luzerne on the board on Friday, marking the Flying Forts' second-straight 12-0 shutout. While the Flying Forts didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Bradie Tyler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Keeley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Kylynne Wilbur was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

Hartford Central couldn't beat Granville on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Tanagers fell just short of the Golden Horde by a score of 7-6. The Tanagers haven't had much luck with the Golden Horde recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

The win made it two in a row for Fort Edward and bumps their season record up to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Hartford Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.
