Basketball Recap: Rootstown Takes a Loss

Rootstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 58-30 defeat at the hands of the Crestwood Red Devils. The Rovers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-11.

Crestwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dekota Johnson out in front who went 8 for 16 on his way to 18 points. Johnson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Brody Durham was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 10 points in addition to six assists and four steals.

Rootstown's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Crestwood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rootstown will venture away from home to face off against Mogadore at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Crestwood, they will head out to take on Wickliffe at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Crestwood's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games.
