Martin Luther came out on top against Jefferson on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Spartans put the hurt on the J-Hawks with a sharp 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won 11 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jovani Serrano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Serrano was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Martin Luther let Brendan Scheel and Jady Colome run wild. Scheel went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Colome went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Beckett Sabanosh, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Martin Luther hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson struck out nine times.

Martin Luther pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-20.

Looking ahead, Martin Luther will face off against St. Thomas More at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cavaliers have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Jefferson, they will challenge Harlem at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
