Baseball Recap: Red River Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Red River and Winnfield, and Winnfield kept the tradition alive. Red River fell just short of Winnfield by a score of 9-8 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 9-0 loss on Friday.

Luke Williamson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Blake Bown, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Red River has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-9-1 record this season. The victory made it two in a row for Winnfield and bumps their season record up to 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red River will challenge Many at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Winnfield, they will venture away from home to square off against Caldwell Parish at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
