Volleyball Recap: Ja'zae-Lynne Lewis Key Part of Team Effort in Bobcats Win

Refugio not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 4, 2024 (when they won 3-0). They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Banquete Bulldogs. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 2-1 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-16, 25-21.

Refugio's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ja'Zae-Lynne Lewis led the charge by getting seven kills, five digs, two blocks, and two aces. What's more, Lewis posted three assists, the most she's had over her last nine games. Another player making a difference was Aiyanna Brown, who had 12 kills and two blocks.

The victory got Refugio back to even at 12-12. As for Banquete, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Refugio will venture away from home to challenge McMullen County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Banquete, they will take on King at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
