Volleyball Recap: Saint Viator Lions vs. Wheeling Wildcats
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Saint Viator and Wheeling meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Lions fell 2-0 to the Wildcats. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.
Saint Viator was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-21.
Erin Lynch paced Saint Viator's offense, picking up 11 kills. Lynch got some help from Rose Berlen and her 11 assists. Abigail Sheldon controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Saint Viator has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-6 record this season. As for Wheeling, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8.
