Hiawatha hadn't done well against Ashton-Franklin Center recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Hiawatha Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-57 win over the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Raiders back in November of 2024, they had to take a 66-51 loss.

Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nolan Rueff, who posted 15 points. Nate Becker was another key player, putting up 15 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Hiawatha and bumps their season record up to 9-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points over those games. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-21.

Coming up, Hiawatha will take on Newark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ashton-Franklin Center, they will face off against Eastland at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Eastland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Ashton-Franklin Center likes a good challenge.
