Basketball Game Preview: Freer Buckaroos vs. Port Aransas Marlins

The Freer Buckaroos will challenge the Port Aransas Marlins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Freer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.4 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Freer strolled past La Villa with points to spare, taking the game 56-38. The Buckaroos haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Freer got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ayden Ramirez out in front who went 7-for-17 to rack up 20 points along with five boards and four steals. Ramirez has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Erik Leal, who went 5-for-11 en route to 15 points in addition to seven assists and seven rebounds.

Freer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Port Aransas came up short against London on Saturday and fell 55-44. While losing is never fun, the Marlins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 716th, while the Pirates are ranked 329th).

Freer's win bumped their record up to 17-13. As for Port Aransas, their loss dropped their record down to 26-9.
