Columbia Central's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when Independence hitters got past them. The Lions came up short against the Eagles on Monday, falling 10-3. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Columbia Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ruthie Lindsey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Warren County never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Franklin County on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Rebels. The win continues a trend for the Pioneers & Lady Pioneers in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won seven in a row.
Kyaira Sharpe made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Warren County got a massive performance out of Ky Damon, who scored four runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Damon has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lola Wells, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Columbia Central's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Warren County, their victory bumped their record up to 13-10.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Columbia Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .429. However, it's not like Warren County struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
