Recap: Mesick Bulldogs vs. Marion Eagles
The Mesick Bulldogs lost against the Marion Eagles back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mesick fell just short of Marion by a score of 47-45. Mesick has struggled against Marion recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Defeat or not, Mesick got some senior leadership from Kayla McCoy and Rylee Blach. McCoy scored 16 points along with nine assists and six rebounds, while Blach. scored 12 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that McCoy posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Lagrow, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Mesick were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Mesick's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Marion, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Mesick will head out on the road to take on Pentwater at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Marion, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crossroads Charter Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Crossroads Charter Academy's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Marion's offense will have their work cut out for them.
