High school football rankings: Cape Elizabeth finishes No. 1 in final Maine MaxPreps Top 25

State POY Caden McDuffie leads Cape Elizabeth to top spot after winning Class C title.

The high school football season in Maine came to a close over the weekend. Cape Elizabeth was among the victors, beating Winslow 53-8 in the Class C state championship game. That helped propel the Capers to the No. 1 ranking in the final Maine MaxPreps Top 25.

Cape Elizabeth (10-1) was led all year by MaxPreps Maine Player of the Year Caden McDuffie, who passed and ran for nearly 2,500 yards and accounted for 43 touchdowns – including seven in the title game triumph.

The Capers averaged 47.8 points per game, topping the 50-point mark six times.
