 It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Harlingen South had no problem doing just that  on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vela Sabercats  a   10-0 shutout. Considering Harlingen South has won 19 matches by more than six  runs this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.
  Lexi Sandoval made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Sandoval has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in six consecutive pitching appearances. Sandoval was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with a  home run, two  runs,  and a  stolen base.
 In other batting news, Harlingen South let  Jaylin Mata and  Emily Ruiz loose on the outfield. Mata  went 1-for-3 with a  home run and four  RBI, while  Ruiz  scored two  runs while going 3-for-3.  Yezenia Perez was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.
 The  win was  the 21st in a row for Harlingen South, bringing their record for this year to 26-2. As for Vela, they now  have a losing record at 15-16.
 Harlingen South will have a chance to go back-to-back against Vela: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 5:30  p.m.  on Friday.
