Basketball Recap: Dawson Springs Comes Up Short

Dawson Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-52 heartbreaker at the hands of the Evansville Christian Eagles. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2020.

When it comes to explaining why Dawson Springs lost, don't look at Rex Blue. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 14 en route to 29 points and eight rebounds. The match was Blue's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Deacon Dever, who posted 12 points and six boards.

Even though they lost, Dawson Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Dawson Springs now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Evansville Christian, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10.

Dawson Springs has already played their next game (against Heritage Christian Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Evansville Christian will head out on the road to square off against Southridge at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th.
