Football Recap: Valley View Skates Past Wyoming Valley West with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley View). They claimed a resounding 52-21 win over the Wyoming Valley West Spartans. The high-scoring effort was just what the Cougars needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Valley View, racking up 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Gabe Davis, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

One reason for the win was Valley View's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Brady Cunningham and Brody Call, who racked up all four sacks between them.

John Richards and Damien Eastman certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Richards picked up 157 receiving yards and two scores, while Eastman threw for 190 yards and a pair of TDs. Richards showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 64 yards.

Valley View now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Wyoming Valley West, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley View will host Wallenpaupack Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wyoming Valley West, they will be playing at home against Crestwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
