League recap: First place up for grabs as Seton Hall Prep and Montclair jockey for top spot

This could be a critical week for Seton Hall Prep, which holds a 2.00-game lead over Montclair for the league's top spot in the standings.

Nutley made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from sixth to fourth place in the league thanks to a 2-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, West Essex fell hardest in the standings, dropping from fifth all the way to seventh place after going 0-3 in the past week. the Pirates (16-1, 10-1) are now in first place.

Bloomfield put just seven batters on base with walks in the past week, but Millburn's pitching staff has had the best control this season, surrendering a base on balls only 49 times in 94 innings this year.

The Bengals's Mike Carter led the league with seven hits this week. On the season, he's hitting .406 and ranks second in the league with 26 hits.

Evy Ruibal was an RBI machine on May 5, 2012, as he knocked in four runs during Millburn's 8-1 win over Belleville.
