Baseball Recap: Pueblo County Continues Road Dominance on Thursday

Pueblo County had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt La Junta on Thursday. The Hornets blew past the Tigers 9-1. Considering the Hornets have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Cohen Glenn made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Pat Noga was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Nick Hernandez also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Pueblo County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Pueblo County's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for La Junta, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pueblo County will head out to square off against Pueblo Centennial at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.09 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for La Junta, they will venture away from home to take on Buena Vista at 4:00 p.m. on the 19th.
