Basketball Recap: Tony Bos' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Demotte Christian over Wheeler

DeMotte Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 41-38 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wheeler Bearcats. That's two games in a row now that the Knights have lost by exactly three points.

DeMotte Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Tony Bos, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Those 12 rebounds gave Bos a new career-high. Tanyon Bakker was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Wheeler can attribute much of their success to Nick Scott, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and seven boards. Scott's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carter Blane, who posted six points and five assists.

DeMotte Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Wheeler, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. DeMotte Christian will face off against South Newton at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wheeler, they will take on Calumet New Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
