Basketball Recap: Liberty County Takes a Loss

Liberty County has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 61-52 to the Blountstown Tigers on Tuesday. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 57-45.

Blountstown found their leader in freshman Cyion Smith, who went 5 of 9 en route to 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Smith is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Curtis Ellis, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 13 points and six boards.

Liberty County's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Blountstown, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Liberty County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-45 victory against Wewahitchka on the 29th. As for Blountstown, they are taking a road trip to take on Port St. Joe at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Port St. Joe is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Blountstown a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
