Baseball Recap: Freeburg Has No Trouble Against Centralia

Freeburg never let their opponents score on Saturday. They blew past the Centralia Orphans 7-0. The Midgets have beaten the Orphans the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Orphans has come to flipping the script.

The result came thanks to Liam Scaiefe's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, John Higgins was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Freeburg's victory bumped their record up to 15-13. As for Centralia, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.

Looking ahead, Freeburg will face off against Red Bud at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Musketeers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Midgets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Centralia, they will venture away from home to take on Collinsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
