Baseball Game Preview: Pacific Grove Breakers vs. Stevenson Pirates

For the second straight game, Pacific Grove will face off against Stevenson. The Breakers will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Pirates at 4:00 p.m.

On Saturday, Pacific Grove came up short against Stevenson and fell 4-1. The Breakers haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

For Stevenson's part, Kai Shohtoku looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Shohtoku has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Phinn Thomas was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Stevenson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive matchups.

Stevenson is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Pacific Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8-1.
