Basketball Game Preview: Momence Momence Athletics vs. Manteno Panthers

The Momence Momence Athletics will face off against the Manteno Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Momence is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Momence was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 58-53 to Grace Christian Academy.

Momence might have lost, but man, Brogan Halpin was a machine: he went 9 of 14 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Halpin a new career-high in points. Erick Castillo was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, Manteno didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Reed-Custer on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 42-37 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Momence's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Manteno, their win bumped their record up to 14-9.

Momence couldn't quite finish off Manteno when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 60-58. Can Momence avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
