High Plains is 8-2 against Hampton since January of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The High Plains Storm will head out on the road to square off against the Hampton Hawks at 7:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

High Plains will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Shelby-Rising City, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. High Plains came out on top in a nail-biter against Shelby-Rising City on Friday, sneaking past 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Storm have posted since February 20, 2024.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hampton). They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Meridian 58-56.

High Plains better focus on containing Landen Rojewski and Wyatt Dose as the pair were huge in Hampton's win. Rojewski went 7 for 14 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven assists and five steals, while Dose dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. Rojewski is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Wolinski, who posted four points.

Hampton was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive games.

High Plains is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Hampton, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

High Plains strolled past Hampton when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 53-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for High Plains since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
