Basketball Recap: Forest Park Takes a Loss

Forest Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. The matchup between the Panthers and Drew didn't end well, with the Panthers falling 74-59. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Drew earlier this season, when they won 57-55.

When it comes to explaining why Forest Park lost, don't look at Derrick Green. Despite the final result, he shot 86% from the field to rack up 18 points and eight boards. Josiah Coleman was another key player, going 5-for-9 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Drew was led to victory by Jucian Wilson and Rexson Kenley. Wilson shot 71% from the field en route to 13 points along with five assists and three steals, while Kenley went 6-for-11 to rack up 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals. Kenley is becoming a predictor of Drew's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 5-1 (and 1-10 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Khalil Harris, who shot 71% from the field on his way to 14 points.

Forest Park's record now sits at 7-12. As for Drew, the win snapped their losing streak at nine games and leaves them with a 6-11 record.

Coming up, Forest Park will take on Mays at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' defense better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 70.5 points per game this season. As for Drew, they will face off against M.L. King at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Drew will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.06 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
